Hoorah for Digging & Delving ! ! !

It has been an interesting and fulfilling project to work on. We have gained an awful lot of knowledge, not just around the history and research of our local allotments, but also in working with a fabulous group of volunteers and participants who attended our creative workshops and art sessions.

The events that we ran brought us into contact with a wide range of people who were actively supportive and came from varied backgrounds and added diversity to the project.

Some of the historical sources that we had earmarked didn’t materialise with others presenting themselves quite unexpectedly.  This was especially apparent when we worked on the podcasts and personal interviews given from those with enduring family connections to Burnham’s allotments and their knowledge of the many changes since 1896 when the site was first provided by Burnham Parish Council.

Our core group who worked on the booklet and exhibition were committed to achieving the best results possible within our time frame and were enthusiastic and positive even when the information we had hoped for wasn’t available.

We would like to say a huge THANK YOU for the hours of dedication that they gave to make this project successful.

Throughout the project we used Twitter and Facebook to inform and record our progress, while local newspapers advertised our events.

Our Digging & Delving slide show illustrates a selection of the activities and events that we held to gather personal stories and to promote the project through its many stages.  We hope that you enjoy exploring our “potted history” project as much as we have….
just a thought.....
