It has been a very busy few days in the world of the Digging & Delving project. On Friday we had a really productive booklet planning session, at the end of the meeting we all emerged with some actions. It's fascinating looking at the history of the allotments - some of the books we have been looking at talk about the allotments emerging out of the Enclosures of the Commons which happened a few centuries ago. |
There was lots and lots of discussion around the contents of the front and back pages/colour schemes/fonts etc. Oh, and I forgot to mention, we kicked off the meeting with some delicious homegrown strawberries with cream.
The whole of Saturday was spent over at the allotments with Stuart (Sound Recordist) interviewing allotmenteers whose memories and interesting snippets will feed into the podcasts. These will be posted onto our website when the editing is complete.

We dreaded it might rain on the day and had a plan B in place - it didn't rain in fact the weather was absolutely glorious and lots of people volunteered to tell us about their experiences and the impact that having an allotment had made to them.
We were told so many stories, so it's hard to pick out what to write about here, but if I had to choose just one interesting thing, it's that many of the plots have been passed down through the generations. All in all the podcasts were a total success and a great day was had.
